Colville steps down at West Adelaide

Gavin Colville has decided to step down as West Adelaide senior coach despite having a year left to run on his contract.

In charge of the Bloods for the past three seasons, Colville will depart Richmond after finishing at the foot of the table for the past two seasons.

“Gavin has been an unbelievable leader and an asset to our club,” West chief executive Ben Hopkins said.

”We are disappointed to see him go, but understand and support the decision he has made.

”Gavin’s dedication to the club has been outstanding and in a year interrupted by COVID, he has worked tirelessly to ensure the culture of the group remains strong. While it was a tough year on the field, Gavin has played a huge role in the development of the playing group.”

Colville, a distinguished captain at Woodville-West Torrens who played 232 games from 1995 to 2008, steered the Bloods to the 2017 Reserves Grand Final before taking the top job in 2018.
