Central District’s Women’s team is itching to make an impact next year when it debuts in the SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League.
Coached by Shaun Ribbons, the Bulldogs have been training for more than two months at Elizabeth in preparation for the 2019 season.
Set to tackle West Adelaide it their historic first official match on Saturday February 16, the northern girls tasted success in their first trial match when they eclipsed fellow SANFLW newcomer Woodville-West Torrens at Snowtown in late November.
Speaking on SANFL TV, Ribbons said his players had already displayed great commitment on the training track, including experienced players Taryn Wills and Nicola Biagi.
Both girls hail from the Barossa, spending the majority of their sporting lives on the netball court.
But now they are equally excited to have the opportunity to lace up the footy boots, with the introduction of Central’s Women’s team providing a pathway for all females in the outer northern suburbs to progress to elite level.
