A ferocious start launched West Adelaide to a 31-point win over Central District in Round 6 of the U16 Torrens University Cup at X Convenience Oval.

The Bloods slammed through 6.3 before the Bulldogs could even trouble the scorers, virtually sealing the result despite Central kicking five consolation majors in a 10-minute fourth-term flurry.

Jackson Green (four goals) and Marcus Pavlic (three first-half goals) were West’s match-winners in attack, aided by the endeavours of Lukas Zvaigzne (29 possessions, nine tackles) and Max Downs (27 touches, 11 inside-50s).

Tyrell Burgess booted three majors for the Dogs and captain Trent Tattoli had 26 disposals and 10 marks.

Red-hot Sturt leapt to the top of the Under-16 Torrens University Cup ladder after smoking Norwood by 70 points at Coopers Stadium.

The contest was evenly poised in the second quarter before the Double Blues cranked into top gear, burying seven unanswered majors amid a spectacular 15.2 to 2.6 finish to secure their fifth successive win.

Kobe McEntee racked up game-highs of 32 possessions, eight tackles and eight clearances, while Luca Slade – the son of Central District’s eight-time premiership-winning legend Matthew Slade – slotted three goals among his 22 disposals.

William Rowlands was the only multiple goalkicker for the Redlegs, who dropped out of the top four.

Glenelg trounced Woodville-West Torrens by 44 points at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval thanks to a goal explosion either side of half-time.

In the blink of an eye, the Tigers nailed 10 unanswered majors to transform an eight-point second-quarter deficit into a 57-point advantage in the third, virtually sealing another finals berth.

Forward Brock Summerhayes (five goals) was instrumental in the Bays’ game-turning surge, while Liam Delany booted three.

The Eagles, aside from Jedd Thomson (22 possessions) and Brody Mair (20 touches, two majors), struggled to find any drive as they slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat.

A six-goal haul from Jack Delean propelled South Adelaide to a 17-point victory over North Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

After a tight first half, the Panthers cut loose in the third stanza, outscoring the Roosters 7.3 to 2.0 before North, precariously placed in fourth spot, clawed back some percentage in the final term.

Match-winner Delean joined Sturt’s Chad Reschke as the competition’s top scorer and had support from Isaac Churchill and Sid Draper (two majors apiece) while on-baller Tom Wheaton (28 touches, 11 clearances) continued his rich form.

Jakeem Cox (four goals) and Jack Dundon (three) were dangerous in attack for the Roosters who were again well served by prolific midfielders Kane McAuliffe and Angus Tully (28 disposals each).
