Sturt tucked itself into fourth spot on the U18 Torrens University Cup ladder after a vital 13-point win against South Adelaide at Wigan Oval.
Not only did the Double Blues move to a 3-1 win-loss record, they also sent the Panthers home with a 1-3 win-loss count, ensuring the victory would be defining at an early stage of the season.
Strong-bodied Sturt midfielder Cormac Dwyer was named his side’s best player with 22 disposals, six clearances and a goal while Thomas McCourt and Will Torode (four goals) were also influential for the hosts.
South forward Koby Cockshell made his presence felt with a game-high five goals while teammate Angus Bradley continued his exceptional start to the season with 2o disposals, six clearances and a goal.
A second seven-goal haul in succession for West Adelaide’s Tom Scully proved to be enough to haul his side over the line by 11-points against Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.
Coming off his seven-goal performance in Round 3, Scully was at it again with his sharp-shooting netting him an accurate 7.2 to go with 16 disposals and 11 marks.
Prolific Bloods midfielder Kobe Ryan provided plenty of service for Scully with his 33 disposals, seven clearances and two goals while Jameson Whitbourne was another to be lauded by West coaches for his 17 disposals, six marks and a goal.
Talented Eagles trio Blake Hansen (35 disposals), Adam D’Aloia (31 disposals, 11 clearances) and Mattaes Phillipou (26 disposals, three goals) fought hard for the hosts but it wasn’t enough to prevent a fourth consecutive loss.
Glenelg cruised to a comfortable 39-point win against Norwood as it kept its unbeaten run rolling at The Parade.

Bulldogs Jayden Matz (17 disposals, six marks) and Trent Tattoli (32 disposals, seven marks, five clearances) earned the praise of their coaches after refusing to buckle.
