Sturt ensured it kept touch with the early pacesetters in the U16 Torrens University Cup with an upset 51-point win against South Adelaide at Wigan Oval. 

Securing their second win of the season, the Double Blues inflicted the Panthers’ first loss of the 2022 campaign with a strong opening term which enabled them to lead at each change.

Sturt pair Cameron Kelly (17 disposals, nine marks) and Harry Willis (19 disposals) were strong performers in their team’s triumph while tall forward Sam Waltham booted four goals from eight kicks and seven marks.

South trio Benny Barrett (20 disposals, two goals), Jake Agnew (18 possessions) and Phoenix Hargrave (21 disposals, six clearances and a goal) were listed as their team’s noteworthy contributors.

Glenelg eventually translated its statistical dominance into a percentage-boosting 54-point win against Norwood at The Parade.

Boasting considerable advantages in inside 50s (54 to 22) and clearances (41 to 21), the Tigers booted the last four goals of the game during the final term to pile on the scoreboard gain.

Tiger Harry Wright was lauded for his impact with 11 disposals, two goals and seven tackles while William Thompson (13 disposals, four goals) and William Freckleton (21 disposals) also had key influences in the win.

Collecting 17 disposals each, Norwood pair Charlie Lewis and Jacob Newton refused to throw in the towel, along with teammate Ezra Foster.

A mammoth inside 50 advantage propelled Woodville-West Torrens to a 43-point win against West Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval. 

Winning the important statistic by 64 to 27, the Eagles could have won by more if not for inaccurate kicking which landed them a total of 10.14 (74).

Eagles Harry Dodd (30 disposals, six marks) and Tom Luck (18 disposals, four goals) were instrumental in banking the premiership points for the hosts.

West’s Ethan Gurney and Max Wandel drew high praise from their team’s coaching staff while Noah Baker worked hard for his 23 disposals, seven marks and five clearances.

North Adelaide showed off its multitude of goal scoring threats in its impressive 60-point win against Central District at X Convenience Oval.

As many as nine Roosters hit the scoreboard for the evening, with Connor O’Leary (four), PJ Carlin (three) and Louis Montgomery (three) booting 10 goals between them.

North’s Blake Oudshorn-Bennier (27 disposals, one goal) and Tom Tasker (26 disposals) also proved too difficult for the Bulldogs to effectively curtail.

Central rated Matthew LeRay (21 disposals, six tackles), Beau Ryan (20 disposals, one goal) and Xander Mossop (three goals) as its most positive contributors in a tough night at the office.
