Round 7 U18 Torrens University Cup Wraps

North Adelaide asserted itself on the U18 Torrens University Cup after winning the battle of undefeated teams by toppling Glenelg by 41 points at ACH Group Stadium.

The rampaging Roosters were barely troubled by the Bays in the first half, setting up the win by booting 10.5 to the hosts’ 3.5.

North midfielder Kelsey Rypstra – the Round 6 Torrens University Cup MVP – continued his red hot form with 39 disposals, nine clearances and a goal while exciting key forward Isaac Keeler booted four goals to go with 21 disposals.

Glenelg ruck Kynan Dunn fought hard to give his midfielders Jayden Davis (29 disposals, 10 marks, one goal) and Hayden Brokensha (26 disposals) first look at the ball in the centre square.

Norwood stayed in touch with the top-four pacesetters with a vital 17-point win against South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

Leading by just 10 points at the final change, the Redlegs kicked the opening goal of the fourth term through Damon Pitt en route to banking the premiership points.

Ball magnet Tyson Walls collected 25 disposals and booting a goal for the visitors while Archie Richardson (21 disposals) and Alex Van Wyk (17 disposals, one goal) were highly rated.

Panther Jaiden Magor was a standout for the hosts with 28 disposals, six clearances and three goals while Cameron Kirkland (22 disposals) and Nicholas Schroder (eight tackles) were also commended.

Sturt’s three-pronged forward attack propelled it to a 38-point victory against Central District at X Convenience Oval.

Despite falling behind at the first change, the Double Blues clicked into gear during the third quarter by booting 6.1 to the Bulldogs’ 1.3.

Sturt spearheads Will Torode (four goals), Blake Fidge (four goals) and Chad Reschke (three goals) kicked 11 majors between them while Pat Tidemann kicked two with his 20 disposals.

Central mainstays Trent Tattoli (32 disposals) and Austin McDonald (27 disposals) flew the flag for the hosts.

A fast-finishing West Adelaide stormed over the top of Woodville-West Torrens by 20 points at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Clinging on to a one-point advantage at the final change, the Bloods finished much stronger to boot 4.1 to the Eagles’ six behinds in the fourth quarter.

Harry Barnett starred for the visitors with 29 disposals, 12 marks and two goals while Bloods key forward Tom Scully took his season tally to 37 with a four-goal haul.

Eagles pair Adam D’Aloia (34 disposals, 12 tackles) and Mattaes Phillipou (30 disposals, two goals) could again hold their heads high in a losing side.
