Round 7 U16 Torrens University Cup Wraps

A damaging third-term blitz ensured North Adelaide would remain at the top of the U16 Torrens University Cup ladder after defeating Glenelg by 70 points at ACH Group Stadium. 

Working hard to earn a 28-point lead at the main change, the Roosters put on the after-burners in the third term by slamming on 4.6 while holding the Tigers scoreless.

Major ball-winners for the visitors in Evan Bradley (23 disposals), Blake Oudshorn-Bennier (24 disposals, two goals) and Louie Montgomery (26 disposals) were rated highly by North’s coaching staff.

Tigers Bradley Rowe and Angus Clarke (17 disposals each) and Harry Plews were selected as their team’s best performers on a tough day at the office.

Central District’s Dyson Sharp lived out every footballers dream by kicking an after-the-siren goal to give his side a thrilling two-point win against Sturt at X Convenience Oval.

Trailing for the entire match, the Bulldogs hit the front with Sharp’s 15m set shot after moving the ball nicely with a chain of possessions from their defensive arc.

Bulldog Riley McDonald starred with 29 possessions, six tackles and six clearances while Conna Mackay and Brody Wilton also played their roles admirably.

Sturt’s Harry Willis was prominent with 32 disposals while Koen Morrison (18 disposals) and Harley Barker (20 disposals) battled hard for the visitors.

A second-half shutdown allowed South Adelaide to gain valuable percentage with a comprehensive 91-point win against Norwood at Flinders University Stadium.

Leading by 25-points at half-time, the Panthers then only conceded one behind for the rest of the match while piling on 9.13.

Panthers Benny Barrett (29 disposals, 11 clearances) and Jake Agnew (17 disposals, one goal) got things moving for for forward Joel Cartwright, who cashed in with six goals.

Norwood midfielders Anthony Mustaca (22 disposals), Noah Daw (20 disposals) and Ezra Foster (20 disposals) did their best to turn things around for the visitors.

Woodville-West Torrens converted its massive inside 50m advantage into a commanding 95-point win against West Adelaide at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Registering 65 entries into their forward arc, the Eagles had as many as 11 players kick a goal in the percentage-boosting performance.

Eagles Kade Herbert (32 disposals, 12 marks, one goal), Tyler Welsh (22 disposals, two goals) and Lachlan Sands (25 disposals, three goals) were influential in the victory.

On a challenging day for the Bloods, who managed just 22 inside 50m entries, Alfie Homersham, Fraser Morley and Ben Jeffries were praised for their resilience.
