Lewis Joins SANFL 200 Club

Persistence has been a key theme throughout the SANFL career of Woodville-West Torrens midfielder Scott Lewis.

And just when most thought the 32-year-old would call an end to his journey after last season, he again bobbed up at Oval Avenue to continue chasing an elusive second League premiership medal.

As a result, the ultra-consistent left-footer is preparing for his 200th Statewide Super match when he lines up against Sturt at Peter Motley Oval on Saturday.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, Lewis said he has always been driven by playing at the highest level possible to repay the faith shown in him by his family and former Eagles coach Michael Godden.

Originally from the Riverland town of Loxton, Lewis started with West Adelaide’s Under-17s in 2003 en route to making his League debut in Round 1, 2005.

He went on to play 21 League matches for the Bloods before crossing to Glenelg at the start of 2007.

At Brighton Road, Lewis was only able to break into the first 21 on four occasions whilst winning the Reserves Magarey Medal in 2008.

It prompted him to ensure he got to play country football with his brother Richard at South Clare before being enticed back to the SANFL arena by then Eagles coach Michael Godden in 2010.

Since then, Lewis has blossomed in the gold, green and blue, racking up 174 appearances including the dramatic 2011 League premiership.

An apprentice linesman with SA Power Networks, Lewis is hungry to add that second medallion to his bulging resume.
