Woodville-West Torrens captain Joey Sinor has is relishing his rise from West End State team debutant to skipper in the space of 12 months.
Named as the Croweaters’ leader for the Kia State Game against the WAFL at Adelaide Oval on Friday, the courageous midfielder will be supported by experienced Glenelg pair Max Proud and Liam McBean as his joint vice-captains.
Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 29-year-old is brimming with excitement considering he was also handed the captaincy mantle at Oval Avenue this year.
Eager to team up with the likes of clearance-winning pair Brett Turner and Tom Lewis through the centre square, Sinor joked that when coach Jade Rawlings phoned to tell him of his appointment, he thought it was for a different reason.
”I thought when Jade was ringing me on Monday night that maybe I am getting the chop here,” Sinor said.
”To be honest, I was just happy to get a game so when I got the opportunity to have the role, I couldn’t have jumped at it any quicker.”
Sinor revealed past West End State coach Graham Cornes was in attendance at training on Tuesday night, providing the current squad with an insight into what it means to wear the cherished red guernsey.
