SANFL is pleased to announce that Think! Road Safety has extended its significant partnership with community football across the State, including its naming rights partnership of the SA Country Championships, to be held next month.
The partnership extension will see Think! Road Safety become Major Partner of SANFL Community Football and official Road Safety Partner, in addition to its ongoing support for the Country Championships event.
Importantly, the commitment will ensure the continuation of SAPOL and MFS road safety seminars with clubs throughout regional SA, and the appointment of Road Safety Ambassadors within every league across the State. The Road Safety Round initiative across community football also encourages positive reinforcement of safe driving.
The Think! Road Safety SA Country Championships, to be held this year in the Barossa from July 8-9, is now a major event for regional SA, not only providing SA’s best crop of male and female country footballers with the prestige of representing their region, but also generating significant economic benefits for the host region.
SANFL Chief Executive Officer Darren Chandler said the League was extremely proud to continue to have Think! Road Safety on board across community football and helping to promote vital road safety messages through clubs right across the State.
“With over 250 football clubs, 50,000 community players and tens of thousands of volunteers and spectators, football has connections with communities right across the state,” Mr Chandler said.
“It’s because of these deep connections that we profoundly understand the devastating impact of road trauma and the importance of promoting road safety.
SANFL CEO Darren Chandler“SANFL has been a strong and committed road safety advocate for many years and events such as the Think! Road Safety Country Championships are an important platform to create awareness and drive home the vital message and education about road safety to our football community.''

“Additionally, without the support of Think! Road Safety, the Country Championships, which bring together more than 500 players, umpires and volunteers and thousands of spectators each year, would not be possible.”
Minister for Police Joe Szakacs said the partnership extension will continue to spread road safety messaging within community football circles as a proactive method of engaging with players, fans, parents, and friends.
“The extension of this partnership will ensure that crucial road safety messaging will be received and digested by tens-of-thousands of players, spectators and volunteers across the state,” Mr Szakacs said.
“We know that road trauma reaches deep into local football communities, so I hope this partnership extension and branding opportunities promote a proactive discussion about road awareness and road safety.”
