Round 15 Torrens University SANFL U16 Match Wraps

A seven goal to one first term from Woodville-West Torrens laid the foundation for a 24-point win over Sturt at Thebarton Oval in the Torrens University SANFL U16s.

Promising Eagles talent Jevan Phillipou kicked four goals, two in as many minutes in the first term, and Brock Jamieson gathered a game-high 31 disposals.

Despite the slow start, the ladder-leading Sturt was able to claw back the margin after quarter-time and finished strongly, however the damage had already been done.

Reliable Double Blues midfielders Noah Roberts-Thomson (25 disposals and two goals) and Louis Kellaway (22 disposals and a goal) performed well.

Central District claimed a narrow seven-point victory over South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

Although Central led at each change, South was never far behind and managed to level the scores midway through the last term.

However, late goals to Bulldog duo Aidan Schubert and Bailey Blacker helped secure the points for the visitors.

Joshua Reichelt was everywhere for Central, gathering 32 disposals and 12 rebound-50s, while South’s Jesse Nye (28 disposals, ten tackles and eight clearances) battled tirelessly in the midfield.

West Adelaide defeated Glenelg by 16 points at Hisense Stadium to remain within touching distance of the top four.

In a match where both sides were inaccurate in front of goal, the Bloods’ 20-point quarter -ime lead proved vital.

West Adelaide’s Archie Walsh and Lucas White both finished with 28 disposals, while Diego Bueti, Lukas Eagleton and Jonty Klemm each booted two goals.

Consistent on-baller Timothy Alver managed to gather 25 disposals, while teammate Ned McCarthy (22 disposals and one goal) found plenty of the ball but had trouble converting in attack.

North Adelaide survived a late scare to defeat Norwood by four points at The Parade.

The Roosters led all game and established a 19-point lead at the final change, but Norwood kicked three late goals to make things more difficult for North.

North midfielder Sam Cumming was at his prolific best, accumulating 31 disposals and taking five contested marks, and Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier won nine clearances for his side.

Norwood’s Jack Hayter gathered 29 disposals, 12 tackles and a goal and teammate Harry Lake kicked two goals from 19 disposals.
