SANFL Statewide Super Women’s League 2019 Premiers South Adelaide has unveiled the Adelaide Metro bus which will adorn its team colours for the next 12 months.
In what’s become an annual tradition since the SANFL Women’s League commenced in 2017, the bus colours were unveiled on Monday evening at a ceremony at Flinders University Stadium in Noarlunga – the home of the Panthers.
South Adelaide, which claimed the 2018 Premiership crown in its inaugural year in the State’s elite women’s competition, were triumphant over North Adelaide in the 2019 Grand Final on May 26, winning by a 22-point margin.
Statewide Super CEO Tony D’Alessandro said the bus dedication – an initiative of Statewide Super as naming rights partner – provided recognition for the SANFL Women’s League champions each year and further exposure for the expanding Women’s League throughout the entire year.
“This is our version of the very historic West End brewery chimney colours for the SANFL men’s League, and our way of contributing to the promotion of female football in South Australia,” Mr D’Alessandro said.
SANFL CEO Jake Parkinson said Statewide Super’s establishment of this end-of-season tradition for SANFL women’s football was a great way to acknowledge the success of the SANFL Women’s League – an aspirational competition and elite pathway for up and coming players.
“Statewide Super has, quite literally, been a driving force behind the growth of female football participation right across SA and allowed SANFL to take the women’s State League competition to a new level in 2019.”
