Two significant grassroots football club projects supported by SANFL advanced last week as sports facilities upgrades across the State gain momentum.
Blackwood Football Club welcomed the on-site arrival of its Ausco modular changerooms – football’s first modular facilities install in metropolitan Adelaide which has seen the project progress from approval to expected completion in just five months.
The new $750,000 changerooms – which also include a dedicated umpires’ changeroom, medical room and storage area – have been designed to accommodate the club’s demand for modern, unisex facilities with the significant growth of female football.
In 2019, Blackwood has fielded 25 senior and junior male and female teams across both the Hills Football League and SANFL Juniors.
Meanwhile at Brighton Football Club, a turning of the sod ceremony marked the commencement of construction of a $3.4 million club facility, part of a $13.7 million redevelopment of the multi-use Brighton Oval sports complex.
The first phase of the redevelopment will be the construction of three brand new purpose-built buildings for football, cricket, rugby and lacrosse.
Both projects have received funding support from SANFL and the AFL.
