Norwood’s Dom Barry has won the Channel 7 Goal of the Year for his remarkable soccer-style effort against Adelaide in Round 6.
In his first season with the Redlegs since being delisted by AFL club Port Adelaide, Barry tracked the bouncing ball to the forward pocket before instinctively snapping out of mid-air from a tight angle.
The 25-year-old – who wins a $500 cash prize – also earned nominations for Channel 7 Goal of the Year in Rounds 15 and 16.
The Channel 7 Goal of the Year was voted on by the Channel 7 commentary team which includes Mark Soderstrom, John Casey, Tim Ginever, Andrew Hayes and Rhett Biglands.
Port’s Marty Frederick, Glenelg’s Liam McBean, Eagle James Rowe and Sturt’s Danyle Pearce were the other contenders in the top five finalists in the video clip below.
