SANFL had its strongest AFL Draft haul since 2012 after a total of 15 players were selected in the 2018 annual roll call.
Three players – Jack Lukosius and Izak Rankine (Gold Coast) and Connor Rozee (Port Adelaide) – were selected inside the top five, leaving SA’s State League – which provided 19 per cent of the entire AFL Draft crop – just two shy of the 17 chosen in 2012 and 19 picked in the 1995 super draft, which included five inside the top 10.
A further six players were snapped up in the 2018 AFL Rookie Draft, including North Adelaide premiership defender Callum Wilkie, who went to St Kilda at Pick No.3.
