10K at the Bay on King’s Birthday

It’s been 15 years since more than 10,000 fans rolled into Stratarama Stadium to watch Glenelg play host to Sturt in a top-of-the-table SANFL clash.

And now, the push is on to replicate that memorable occasion as the Tigers and Double Blues prepare to square off in front of ”10k at the Bay” on Monday June 12.

In a remarkably similar build up to June 28 of 2008 – in which 11,827 witnessed the Bays hold on for an eight-point win – both sides are again perched near the peak of the premiership ladder.

The hosts, with exciting forward trio Lachie Hosie, Liam McBean and Luke Reynolds firing, will be looking to spoil the 100-game celebrations of star Sturt midfielder Patrick Wilson.

But the on-field action will only be part of the package for those who stroll through the gates at Brighton Road this year, as it promises to be a turbo-charged SANFL Super Match with a multitude of game-day activities and events.

MND South Australia will have a strong presence on game day with a Dunk ME 4 MND Zone to be set up on the northern end of Stratarama Stadium by Margaret Messenger Reserve.

Celebrity guests will be bracing themselves to be dunked across the day, including before the League game, quarter time, and half-time. Stay tuned to find out which celebrities will be in desperate need of a towel!

Plus, three lucky fans will have the chance to win $10,000 in the Adrian Brien Kia Kick for Cash at three-quarter time of the League match.

And of course, all of the fun and excitement from the SANFL Super Match activities, introduced this season at a game each round, will also be on offer.

That includes mini-golf, giant lawn games, face-painters, inflatable footy games and McDonald’s giveaways.

Those wanting a change of pace will also have the option of using the AAMI Chill Out zone with deck chairs and blankets to watch the action unfold.

Boutique food and beverage options will be available at multiple locations around Stratarama Stadium, while the mobile West End backpacks will also be activated.
