The APM State Inclusive team has been edged out by just four points as it sought to defend its crown at the 2023 AFL National Inclusion Carnival in Queensland.
Having won the 2022 title on home soil in the Barossa, South Australia lost to Tasmania by less than a goal in the Grand Final played at Michael Voss Oval, south of Brisbane.
Coached by Dave Couzner, the Croweaters banked an impressive 6-1 win-loss record after the initial Lightning Carnival phase of the tournament.
SA then finished second in the Division 1 competition, with victories over Tasmania and Victoria Metro guiding it to a 2-1 win-loss record with a healthy percentage of 125.49.
But the valiant Croweaters were unable to overcome the top-of-the-table Tasmanians, who triumphed 5.4 (34) to 5.0 (30) in the title-decider.
