They are two of the most eye-catching players set to grace the Adelaide Oval in Sunday’s Hostplus SANFL League Grand Final.

Norwood goalsneak Baynen Lowe and North Adelaide wing Frank Szekely have told of their excitement ahead of the 2022 title-decider after sitting down to tell their stories on the Grand Final edition of Checkside Chats.

Lowe, originally from Devonport in Tasmania, is coming off an influential four-goal performance which helped propel the Redlegs to victory in the Preliminary Final against Adelaide.

Just 19, Lowe is cherishing the opportunity to play in what looms as a huge crowd at the home of SA footy as he continues to adjust to life away from the Apple Isle.

Invited to the SA State Combine next month, Lowe said he has grown up playing the majority of his career as a midfielder before adapting to be a specialist forward at The Parade.

Preparing for his second League Grand Final after playing in North’s losing title-decider in 2020, Szekely told of his pride in persisting at Prospect after moving down from Port Augusta.

The 23-year-old has also been invited to the SA State Combine in October and is itching to use his blistering speed on the big stage against the Redlegs.

Like Lowe, Szekely is working as a School Support Officer, helping children with autism to learn in the classroom in a challenging, yet rewarding, role.
