After six rounds, unbeaten Sedan Cambrai Magpies had a huge 20-goal win over the Lyrup Lions at Cambrai Oval in the long-running Riverland Independent competition.

James Kain was best on ground for the Magpies, followed by forward Scott Eichler with a nine-goal haul, Jacob Grieger with four goals and Jaden Schultz finishing with three majors. Ryan Johns and Lachlan Greatz also had an impact for the winners.

Best for the Lions was Hamish Sanford, along with Josh Kleinig, Troy Whiley and Riley Wallace.

The third annual indigenous Reconciliation match between the Cobdogla Eagles and the Ramco Roosters was a distinctly one-sided affair. The Roosters were victorious by a massive 226 points, scoring 39.16 with Justin Antony kicking 18 goals.

Blake Watkins was presented with a medal post-game as best on ground, while fellow Ramco players Andrew Pryor, with nine goals, Luke Hart and Daniel Donnelly were among those to have an impact.

Tom and Anton Motto were the Eagles leading performers followed by Allan Penola, Derrin Noye and Phillip Johnson.

“We had plenty of injuries and before half time only had one player on the bench,” said Eagles coach Sam Mitchell.

“Besides the result, it was a great day for local football.

“We had a welcome to country from Auntie Christine Abdulla and both clubs wore indigenous designed jumpers.

“A grade netballer Tahlia Johnson designed our jumper, worn by the A and B grade netballers and footballers.”

Meanwhile the Paringa Swans travelled to take on the Browns Well Bombers.

After a competitive first-half, Paringa came away in the solid win, 14.12 (96) to 8.4 (52)

Best for Paringa was Kallan Head followed by Isaac Frahm.

Sam Frahm and Cohen Baptie were also industrious, while Joel Hanlon kicked four goals.

For the Bombers Troy Braun was their best followed by Marcus Mawe and Mackenzie Schinckel who kicked three goals.

The Wunker Bulldogs were at home to the Blanchetown Swan Reach Redbacks and enjoyed a comfortable 11-goal win.

Club stalwart Shane Schultz kicked seven goals for Wunker while Bradley Stone was best. Shane’s son, Tarquin Schultz, also was impressive, along with Nathan Francis.

The Redbacks’ Andrew Bajszi was a standout for his team, also kicking two goals.

Jed Martinsen finished with three majors for the vanquished, while Wade Harrison and Jayden Sheridan and also contributed.

The Indigenous/Say No to Racism Round in the River Murray competition saw Mypolonga take on the Murray Bridge Ramblers at Mypo oval.

At the half-time break, the Mypolonga Tigers were in front by six goals after an unanswered five-goal blitz in the second quarter. However they survived a second half fight-back from the Ramblers to win by nine points, 11.14 (80) to 10.11 (71).

Ben Gogel was outstanding for Mypolonga, while Kode Wilson, Cruise Pengilly, former Broughton Mundoora player Mitchell Bowley and Lachlan Butler all had their moments. Rory Taggert equaled his game-high three goals in the win.

For the Ramblers, highly experienced defender Sam Pfeiffer was best, followed by Brandon Thiele and Alex Pfeiffer. Nick Pearce and Jesse Paech also were influential.

Kieran Yakas kicked three goals while former South (and West) Adelaide footballer Matthew Rankine finished with a pair.

Tigers star forward James Moss was kept to his equal lowest yield for the season, kicking two goals.

The Jervois Bluds had a big 100-point win at home over Mannum, kicking 23 goals and dominating from the outset.

Former West Adelaide and AFL listed footballer Tate Silverlock was the Bluds’ best followed by Josh Woodall and Matthew Schmidt.

Hayden Schultz kicked five goals up forward while former SANFL State League leading goal kicker Justin Hardy finished with four.

Better players for the Mannum Roos included Mitchell Heward, Blake Webster and Tyson Schellen.

Currently fourth on the ladder, the Meningie Bears travelled up to Tailem Bend and collected a strong away victor, winning by a substantial eight goals 16.11 (107) 8.11 (59).

Former SA under 18s title-winning small man Todd McKay was the Bears’ best followed by Will Paynter and Peter Reichelt.

Former Crow and state country footballer in 2017 at Fremantle Brodie Martin kicked five goals while Dylan Higgins also had an impact.

For the Eagles, Travis Burns was best, followed by Connor Smelt with four goals and Keelan White.

Last weekend’s battle between the Peake Lions and the Murrayville Bulldogs proved to be an absolute thriller, with the visiting Lions venturing across the state border to win by the smallest of margins.

In a highly entertaining affair, Peake and Districts won 10.10 (70) to the Bulldogs 10.9 (69).

Josh Niven, who has made a cracking start to the season and named in the Lions’ top three players in five games, was the visitors’ best followed by Matthew Whitford and Alistair Mills. Luke Genikas was lively, kicking five goals up forward.

Nick Bailey was the host’s best followed by teenager Adam Dorward, while the competitions leading goal kicker Jericho John finished with a five-goal haul. Kelly Gohl and Chris Presser also were noteworthy.

The Pinnaroo Supa Roos remain on top of the table after a significant 92 point win over Lameroo at home. The Supa Roos had 34 scoring shots to the Hawks’ seven in a one-sided affair.

Luke Hayes was outstanding for Roos as was Kyle Wildman and Alex Keogh.

Sam Jordan kicked a game-high five goals while Tommy Burton finished with four.

Luke Exton, Mitchell Dahlitz and Jock Mason were valiant for the well-beaten Lameroo side.

The Karoonda Magpies – currently second-placed on the premiership ladder – collected a 27 point win in a low-scoring game at Tintinara against Border Downs Tintinara (BDT).

Nathan Brown was the leading performer for the Magpies, along with Christian Cock and Simon Lehmann.

Classy Shane Peach and Dylan Schmidt also were instrumental in the win, while Jarrod Woodward snaffled five goals.

Ultra-consistent Ben Prater, with a pair of goals to his name, was BDT’s best followed by teenager Nick Croser and Nathan Reid.
