If one of Glenelg’s sharp-shooters doesn’t get you the other one will.

And such was the story at The Parade in Round 12 as triple Ken Farmer Medallist Liam McBean put on a show in his team’s 30-point win against Norwood.

With fellow forwards Lachie Hosie and Luke Reynolds taking a back seat, the Bays’ vice-captain stepped up to kick a match-winning haul of six goals against the Redlegs.

The Tigers’ premiership forward booted two from ruck stoppage situations while also nailing his set shots from a variety of positions on the field.

And if he wasn’t kicking them himself, McBean was handing them off as he did to sidekick Hosie for his sole major of the match to open up the final quarter.

As has been the case all season, the visitors had players queuing up to contribute as Matt Allen continued his hot streak of form with 28 disposals, 11 marks, six clearances and a goal.

Midfielders Corey Lyons (25 disposals, one goal, 11 tackles) and Brett Turner (24 disposals, two goals) did plenty of heavy lifting while defender Jonty Scharenberg was poised with his positioning and ball use for 24 touches.

Norwood’s usual suspects of Nik Rokahr (24 disposals, six clearances, six tackles), Declan Hamilton (23 disposals, two goals) and defender Pierce Seymour (20 disposals) fought hard.

As did co-captain Matthew Nunn (19 disposals), who kicked a spirited goal in the third term to put his side within two goals but the Tigers were able to surge again for their 11th win in succession.

Adelaide responded to its worst performance of the season to bounce back with a resounding 68-point win against Central District at Nuriootpa Oval.

Surprisingly lack-lustre against North Adelaide in Round 11, the Crows returned to their potent, hard-running best against the Bulldogs in the SA Country Championships feature match.

Laying the foundation for the victory by outscoring Central while kicking into the wind in the first term, Michael Godden’s men kicked 5.4 to 1.2 in the second term to take a match-winning 39-point lead into the main change.

Registering 50 inside 50 entries to the Dogs’ 34, the Crows had as many as 11 players hit the scoreboard while restricting the Bulldogs to just 5.6 (36) for the afternoon.

Adelaide’s midfield again overwhelmed its opposition as has often been the story this season as Sam Berry and Matt Crouch each collected 31 disposals while Tyler Brown had 29 and a clever toe poke for a goal in the second stanza.

Former Bulldog Jackson Hately played well against his junior SANFL club by racking up 23 disposals, 13 tackles and 10 clearances.

Shane McAdam celebrated First Nations Round with three goals for the Crows while Indigenous sidekick Tariek Newchuch booted two, along with Lachlan Gollant.

Central’s Jez McLennan collected a game-high 22 disposals while rover Harry Grant had 18 disposals and nine tackles.

Bulldogs goalsneak Chris Olsson was his team’s sole multiple goal kicker with two, including one from well beyond the 50m arc in the first term.

North Adelaide moved back into the top five with a grinding 15-point win against an inaccurate South Adelaide at Flinders University Stadium.

Despite only kicking two goals in the first half and six for the match, the Roosters did enough as they broke the contest open with three goals in seven minutes during the third quarter.

Impressive North youngster Jack McCann got things rolling with a long snap goal before experienced Sam Mayes followed his lead three minutes later with a curling effort of his own from 35m.

And when Magarey Medallist Aaron Young produced a reflex left-foot snap in traffic in the 11th minute, the Roosters suddenly led by 16 points, which in the context of the game was a significant margin.

North’s Will Gowers topped the stats sheet with 28 possessions and six clearances while Campbell Combe (10 clearances, 10 tackles) and Mayes each finished with 25 disposals.

Frank Szekely provided his dash with 23 disposals while skipper Alex Spina chalked up 22 disposals and eight tackles.

South’s Joseph Haines led the way with 28 disposals while midfielder Oliver Davis strung together another eye-catching individual effort with 23 disposals and eight tackles.

Emerging forward Ben Shillabeer kicked two of South’s three goals for the game while 17-year-old debutant Sid Draper looked comfortable as an AAMI Rookie with 10 disposals.

It wasn’t pretty but Sturt did enough to collect the premiership points as it held off West Adelaide by six points at Hisense Stadium.

Kicking just 5.8 (38) for the match, the Double Blues found a way to win when they booted the only three goals of the third term to construct the victory.

Tall forward Josh Rentsch nailed his set shot from 40m while Sam Breuer dribbled a his kick through after getting out the back of the contest to push the visitors in front by three points.

And when versatile utility Lachlan Burrows soccered through a loose ball in the goal square, Sturt’s nine-point lead would be enough despite managing just three behinds in the final term.

Sturt skipper James Battersby revelled in the wet conditions for 33 disposals, six clearances and nine tackles while Marty Frederick collected 24 disposals and five tackles.

Double Blues fan favourite Tom Lewis made a welcome return from an ankle injury to finish with 23 disposals, 10 tackles and five clearances while defenders Connor McFadyen and Will Coomblas racked up 21 disposals each as Burrows was the visitors sole multiple goal scorer with two.

West midfielder Kobe Ryan was industrious with 27 disposals and 11 tackles while wingman Lucas Meline earned 24 disposals, Michael Mattingly 23 and Mitch Maguire 22.

Bloods defender Josh Ryan was again superb, particularly in the air, with 18 disposals and 13 marks while Joel Stevens booted a cracking goal from a tight angle in the pocket, using the wind perfectly to float it through.

Yartapuulti held its nerve to shake off Woodville-West Torrens in the second half to bank a 36-point win at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

Leading by just a goal at half-time, the Magpies looked in trouble when former Brisbane Lion Connor Ballenden put the Eagles 18 points in front just nine minutes into the second quarter.

But then Yartapuulti went to work in wrestling back control of the contest through consecutive goals to Jackson Mead, Miller Carter and bigmen Dante Visentini and Tom Scully before half-time.

Boasting a 13-point lead at the final change, the visitors ran over the top of the Eagles in the fourth quarter, keeping them scoreless while adding valuable percentage by kicking 3.5.

Port’s Jackson Mead racked up 27 disposals and his fine set shot goal against his old side while Trent Dumont (26 disposals) and Jase Burgoyne (25 disposals) also hit the scoreboard with a major each.

Magpie Francis Evans looked lively throughout the afternoon while kicking a game-high three goals to go with 13 disposals and six tackles.

Ruckman Visentini responded positively to his demotion by collecting 18 disposals, five marks, seven tackles and five clearances to go with 29 hit outs.

Eagles recruit Max Beattie extended his fine run of touch with 25 disposals, nine tackles and three clearances as he continues to impress since his arrival from Wodonga.

Eagles captain Joseph Sinor and forward Zane Williams, who ventured further up the ground regularly, each had 25 possessions while Ballenden booted three goals for the hosts.
