Green light for bigger crowds at Norwood and Glenelg

SANFL Clubs Norwood and Glenelg are set to welcome back bigger crowds for this Easter weekend’s Round One matches after being granted SA Health approval to increase crowd capacity.

Following easing of restrictions announced by the State Government last week, SA Health has now approved COVID management plans to allow 5,000 fans at tonight’s blockbuster between Norwood and Port Adelaide at The Parade and over 6,000 at ACH Group Stadium, which hosts Glenelg v West Adelaide tomorrow afternoon.

All other SANFL Clubs hosting home games this weekend – South Adelaide, Central District and Woodville-West Torrens – have current COVID management plans which permit between 4,000 and 5,000 spectators.

SANFL and SANFL Clubs are continuing to work with SA Health and SAPOL with a view to more venues increasing crowd capacity.

SANFL CEO Darren Chandler said the increased crowd capacity at Norwood and Glenelg would ensure there were greater opportunities for SANFL Club members and footy fans to get along to a game this weekend.

“This is terrific news ahead of our blockbuster Round One and a great reward for SANFL Clubs, their hard-working volunteers, administrators, staff and all footy supporters in South Australia,” he said.

“We encourage fans to sign up for a membership with their SANFL Club for the best value match access or get in early and buy online.”

Mr Chandler thanked SA Health for working through the updated COVID management plans with clubs as soon as possible.

Spectators are reminded of the importance of practising social distancing and good hygiene when attending games and ensure they play their part in keeping SA COVID Safe by staying home if unwell or having been in a location identified as a high-risk exposure to COVID-19.

For COVID contact tracing, every patron attending games will be required to check in with the QR Code or written register at the gate.

“We are privileged here in SA that we have footy back in full force in 2021 and this is something which we must protect by doing the right thing and ensuring we can continue to enjoy crowds at our favourite SANFL venue.”

Match day tickets are available online via the home club website at the discounted price of $15 per adult and $9 for concession. Tickets also will be available at the gate (adult $16, concession $10). All under 18s are free entry at all matches.
