Harvey hanging out for 200 and more

The message from Mitch Harvey’s Dad is loud and clear.

Play in another premiership for North Adelaide, play alongside younger brother Luke at Prospect.

As he approaches his 150th Hostplus SANFL League game against South Adelaide on Monday, Harvey is also hopeful that another byproduct of this will be joining SANFL’s 200 club.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 26-year-old is excited by the opportunity to play alongside his sibling at some point, with Luke progressing nicely through the grades at Menzies Crescent.

Describing his brother as a completely different player to himself, Harvey said the teenager is a slim half-back who has been selected in the Torrens University SA U18 squad as an ”under-ager.”

This could give North’s No.17 the opportunity to potentially play with Luke next season, if he has his way with coach Jacob Surjan inviting him out to complete senior preseason at the end of the year.

Forging a name for himself as a strong-marking forward, the 2018 premiership player is enjoying a reinvigorated campaign in 2022 leading the ruck for the Roosters.

Averaging 17 disposals, five clearances, four marks and 22 hit outs, Harvey is relishing his new role having had a taste of it early in his SANFL career with Port Adelaide.

Making his Hostplus League debut with Port Adelaide in Round 1 of 2014, Harvey spent two seasons at Alberton which featured playing in the thrilling 2014 SANFL Grand Final against Norwood at Adelaide Oval.

In that season, in the absence of injured Port bigmen Brent Renouf and Jarrad Redden – now at the Eagles – Harvey spent a large amount of his time in the ruck.

Once a teammate of Harvey’s, Redden is now one of his toughest direct opponents inside the centre square as is Panther Keegan Brooksby, who he will tackle on the Queen’s Birthday Holiday.
