The SANFL and SA Football Commission wish to advise that Philip Gallagher has tendered his resignation from the Commission.
Mr Gallagher has been an elected member of the SA Football Commission since 2000, making him the longest-serving non-executive Commissioner. Over this period, he has also acted as Chairman of the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee.
He was appointed Deputy Chairman of the SA Football Commission in 2016 and was also an inaugural board member of the Adelaide Oval Stadium Management Authority in 2009.
Mr Gallagher today said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Commission and contributing to the game in South Australia.
“After nearly 23 years the time is now right for me to prioritise business and family interests and I leave confident with the direction in which football in South Australia is heading.”
Chairman of the SA Football Commission, The Hon. Rob Kerin, today acknowledged Mr Gallagher’s extraordinary contribution to the League over more than two decades.
”On behalf of SANFL and the SA Football Commission, we sincerely thank Philip for his outstanding contribution to our game,” Mr Kerin said.
”Philip will leave a long-lasting legacy in South Australian football and his achievements will be recognised appropriately in due course.”
Mr Kerin said the Commission would now go through the process of filling the Casual Vacancy Position, as well as the various roles which Mr Gallagher has held on behalf of SANFL.
