Glenelg crept across the line to hold on for a thrilling two-point win against Woodville-West Torrens in the Hostplus SANFLW League Anzac Day clash at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

A clear leader in all key statistic categories, the Tigers’ four behinds in the fourth quarter were enough to claim the premiership points from the straight-kicking Eagles, who booted five goals without a miss.

Experienced Bays leaders Jessica Bates (31 disposals, 12 tackles, eight clearances) and Ellie Kellock (29 disposals, six clearances, one goal) produced huge numbers while classy Tiger goalsneak Caitlyn Swanson kicked two of her team’s four majors.

The Eagles, who laid a whopping 119 tackles, had skipper Annie Falkenberg leading the way for her side with 19 disposals and eight tackles while 15-year-old Jemma Whitington-Charity (16 disposals) continues to impress.

Sturt kept itself in the race for the minor premiership with a hard-fought 15-point win against South Adelaide at Wigan Oval.

Now sitting in second place, one win behind ladder-leading North Adelaide, the Double Blues broke the game open in the second quarter by booting three goals straight while keeping the Panthers’ scoreless.

Sturt ball magnets Kate Harris (19 disposals, six clearances), Alisha Gepp (22 disposals, six clearances) and Izzy Kuiper (18 disposals, seven clearances, one goal) were huge factors in the win while key forward Amy Brooks-Birve was the game’s only multiple goal kicker.

South’s Senna Gulden, recruited from UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs, had a SANFLW debut to remember with an equal game-high 22 disposals to match teammates Cheyenne Hammond and Gypsy Schirmer.

A behind kicked after the siren by Jaimi Tabb secured a heart-stopping one-point win for North Adelaide against Central District at Prospect Oval.

Celebrating the 50th SANFLW game of co-captain Kristi Harvey, the Roosters had Lauren Gauci’s set shot touched on the goalline with less than a minute to play.

With scores locked together, Tabb secured a chest mark from teammate Erica Greet, allowing her to shoot from 15m to bank the premiership points.

North’s Jess Edwards starred with 27 disposals and nine tackles while better performers for the heartbroken Bulldogs included captain Shelby Smith (18 disposals, five clearances) and Caitlen Teague (17 disposals, eight tackles).

Norwood jumped into the Hostplus SANFLW League top four with a comfortable 22-point win against West Adelaide at The Parade.

Leading at every change in the 50th SANFLW League game of loyal defender Ashlee Gould, the Redlegs could have built more percentage had they been more accurate, finishing with 4.12 (36) to the Bloods’ 2.2 (14)

Tenacious Redleg Tesharna Maher tallied a team-high 23 possessions and seven clearances while vice-captain Sophie Armitstead had 21 disposals as Alana Lishmund booted two of the hosts’ four goals.

West’s AFLW experienced Beatrice Devlyn continued her strong season with 32 possessions while Jessica Macolino had 21 disposals and 11 tackles playing against her former team.
