Norwood all but confirmed a spot in the Hostplus SANFLW League finals after holding out a determined Woodville-West Torrens at Maughan Thiem Kia Oval.

The Redlegs, missing a raft of key personnel, built the platform for the eight-point win with a supreme first-quarter performance when they put 4.1 on the scoreboard and held the Eagles scoreless.

The victory lifted the Redlegs to third on the ladder with two rounds remaining.

Captain Alison Ferrall nailed the first goal for the Redlegs just three minutes into the contest on Saturday, and the visitors added another three in seven minutes to take control.

The Eagles struggled to get the ball into attack, and it was not until 11 minutes into the second term they were able to impact on the scoreboard courtesy of a goal from Chantelle Mitchell.

Responding to the first quarter issues, the Eagles added two goals for the quarter while keeping the Redlegs scoreless to climb back into the contest.

Marlie Fiegert was her usual busy self for the Eagles and Leah Cutting had an influence in ruck.

But with Tahlita Buethke finding plenty of possessions for the Redlegs, the visitors were able to steady the ship and secure the crucial premiership points.

Sturt’s hopes of a finals berth have been aided by a nail-biting one-point win over West Adelaide at Wigan Oval.

Bloods’ young gun Lauren Young had a chance to win the game for the visitors, but her kick, from an anti-density penalty, fell short.

It was a goal following a similar penalty 11 minutes into the final term which enabled the Bloods to level the scores. Kendall Saffin marked 25m from goal and nailed the set shot for her first major in the SANFLW.

Two minutes later, Georgia Swan marked in front for the Double Blues. Her kick drifted to the left of the goal post, but the behind was enough to get the home side home and be fourth on the ladder.

Kate Harris was the leading possession winner for the Double Blues, amassing 27 disposals and 15 tackles, while teammate Monique Bessen had 26 and 11 tackles.

Young had another outstanding game for the Bloods, along with inform teammate Zoe Venning.

Superior accuracy in front of goal proved decisive for Glenelg in conquering form side Central District at Stratarama Stadium and keeping its finals hopes alive.

Late goals from Shelby Raven and Katelyn Rosenzweig had the Bulldogs threatening to overrun the Tigers, but the home side hung on to be fifth on the ladder, only percentage behind Sturt.

The Tigers took advantage of the wind at their backs in the first quarter to bag two goals.

Tessa Kohn kicked a goal within two minutes and Lucy Armitage added another 13 minutes later.

However, the Bulldogs bagged the only two goals of the second term to grab a three-point lead at half-time.

Elaine Grigg was again outstanding for the Bulldogs, being the leading possession-winner in the contest.

Three goals in the third term, with two kicked close to three-quarter time, without a response from the Bulldogs, who were without inspirational captain Shelby Smith, enabled the home side to build a handy break.

Youngster Piper Window is thriving this season and she led the Tigers with 19 disposals, nine clearances and a whopping 12 tackles.

North Adelaide’s title defence is still alive following an upset victory over ladder-leading South Adelaide by 22 points at Prospect Oval.

The Roosters are sixth on the ladder after claiming their fourth win, just a game outside the top four.

Full back Kristi Harvey had a massive influence for the Roosters, gathering 22 disposals and thwarting many dangerous Panthers’ forward thrusts.

Jess Edwards was also outstanding, amassing 13 tackles and picking up plenty of disposals to provide a spark for the home side.

The Roosters were on top from the outset and bagged the first three goals to have the Panthers on the back foot.

Lucy Northcott gave the visitors some hope when she kicked a goal early in the third quarter, only for the Roosters to snuff out a Panthers comeback with the next two goals.

Taylah Levy had a significant impact for the Panthers, who are a game clear on top of the points table.
