Round 13 Torrens University SANFL U16 Match Wraps

 A terrific second quarter proved the difference as Glenelg defeated Norwood by 16 points at Stratarama Stadium in Round 13 of the Torrens University SANFL U16s.

Looking to nail down a top-two spot, the Tigers proved a class above their opponents despite a valiant late surge from Norwood.

Bays ball-winners Isaiah Clothier (30 disposals and five tackles) and Timothy Alver (21 disposals and a goal) were both busy, with teammate Finn Crouch kicking three goals.

Jack Hayter was the standout performer for the Redlegs, gathering 29 disposals, eight tackles and two goals in a losing cause.

A late goal from Jay Saunders helped North Adelaide defeat South Adelaide by six points at Prospect Oval.

In a see-sawing affair, North raced out to a first-term lead, but South hit back to take an advantage into half-time.

The Roosters worked hard to wrestle back the lead as inaccuracy proved fatal for the Panthers.

In contrast, North capitalised on its opportunities in front of goal and snuck home by a goal.

Charlie Dickeson was excellent for the Roosters with 34 disposals and two goals, while Jacob McGarry booted three for the visiting Panthers.

Woodville-West Torrens remained in touch with the top four following an important 13-point victory over Central District at X Convenience Oval.

The Eagles kept the hosts goalless in the opening term as on-ballers Jevan Phillipou, Zane Peucker and James Chalubek worked hard in the middle.

Although reeling in the margin appeared achievable, the Bulldogs weren’t able to claw their way back against an Eagles outfit eager to snap a two-game losing streak.

Phillipou finished with 23 disposals and a goal and defender James McGorman managed 22 disposals and six rebounds for the Eagles, while Jack Gordon (26 disposals and five marks) was Central’s best.

West Adelaide pulled off an incredible win by beating ladder-leaders Sturt by five points at Thebarton Oval.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing for the Bloods, with frustrating inaccuracy and a goalless second half nearly preventing the victory.

West kicked four goals and 13 behinds to Sturt’s four goals and eight behinds, with the Blues kicking the only two goals of the second half.

It wasn’t enough though, as West held on to claim the narrow upset victory which ensured it remains in the top four.

Jaylen Sochacki was instrumental for West with 28 disposals and seven inside-50s, with Jett Dahlitz (27 disposals and eight rebounds) strong for Sturt.
