Round 17 Torrens University SANFL U16 Match Wraps

An Aidan Schubert masterclass helped Central District defeat Sturt by 22 points at Wigan Oval in Round 17 of the Torrens University SANFL U16s.

The two sides couldn’t be separated at quarter time in a contest reflective of their lofty standings, however the Bulldogs managed to kick away in the third term and establish a lead.

Schubert booted a remarkable eight of the Bulldogs’ first nine goals and Sturt simply had no answers.

The Torrens University SA U16 forward finished the match with nine majors in a standout display, while teammate Dyson Sharp accumulated 39 disposals, seven clearances and 10 inside-50s.

Double Blues midfielder Jackson Moody was relentless in the contest, finishing the day with 28 disposals, 11 tackles and 13 clearances.

North Adelaide claimed a vital win over Woodville-West Torrens by 26 points at Prospect Oval which saw it jump into the top four.

Both sides started the penultimate round outside the four, however the Roosters controlled the game and led from start to finish.

North forward Memphis Webb booted five goals, while midfielders Blake Oudshoorn-Bennier and Charlie Dickeson were typically prolific.

Jevan Phillipou was terrific for the Eagles kicking three goals from 31 disposals and teammate Brock Jamieson also managed 31 touches.

South Adelaide snapped a four-game losing streak in emphatic fashion by defeating Norwood by 97 points at Flinders University Stadium.

The Panthers did all the scoring early on and had six goals on the board at half-time without Norwood registering a point.

South’s statistical dominance was reflected on the scoreboard, with an even-spread of contributors playing a hand in the win.

Jesse Nye (30 disposals and a goal), Kodah Edwards (23 disposals and two goals) and Elliott Duffield (three goals) enjoyed terrific games for the Panthers.

Norwood’s Darcy Spreyer had the ball on a string, gathering 41 disposals, 11 marks and 11 rebound-50s for the Redlegs.

West Adelaide took a major step towards finals qualification with a 19-point win over Glenelg at Stratarama Stadium.

With both clubs engaged in a very tight tussle for the top four, West seemed to have control of the play but were unable to capitalise in front of goal.

Glenelg took advantage of the Bloods’ inaccuracy and at three quarter-time, the home side led by ten points.

However, five unanswered goals in the fourth quarter saw the Bloods run away with a dramatic victory.

Ryan McAulay was instrumental for the Bloods with 32 disposals and a goal, while Isaiah Clothier accumulated 37 disposals for the Tigers.
