West Adelaide produced a stunning 16-point win against ladder-leading North Adelaide at Hisense Stadium to keep its U16 Torrens University Cup finals hopes alive.

Trailing at every change, the Bloods responded in gutsy fashion to kick 4.4 to the Roosters’ 1.0 in the fourth quarter to remain in the hunt for a major round berth.

Ball-magnet Kobe Ryan racked up 31 disposals and seven clearances for the Bloods while bigmen Tom Scully (three goals) and Harry Lemmey (18 disposals, nine marks, one goal) were also influential.

North’s Jed Dignan collected a team-high 26 possessions while Angus Tully (21 disposals) and Jake Grubb (20 disposals) also worked hard for the visitors.

Norwood all but secured a berth in the major round by overrunning Glenelg by 18 points at ACH Group Stadium.

Now sitting second on the premiership table, the Redlegs can ensure they play finals football by defeating a red-hot West Adelaide in Round 18.

Michael Knoll’s men – led by Tyson Walls (28 disposals), Taj Rahui (23 disposals) and Logan Evans (22 disposals) – ran over the top of the Bays with a 3.3 to 1.1 final term.

The hosts were well served by Sam Pridham (23 disposals), Hayden Brokensha (24 disposals) and Kynan Dunn.

Sturt left the finals door ajar for West Adelaide when it succumbed to Woodville-West Torrens by nine points at Wigan Oval.

Returning Jaiden Magor was a major factor in the visitors’ win with five goals from 13 disposals while ruck Will Verrall had 21 disposals, nine clearances and seven marks.

Central’s Jayden Matz, Liam Fawcett and Riley McDonald all drew praise from the Bulldogs’ coaching staff.
