Round 7 Hostplus SANFLW Match Wraps

North Adelaide claimed top spot on the Hostplus SANFLW League ladder with a comfortable 32-point win against Glenelg at The Parade.

After losing two of their first three matches, the Roosters have now strung together four wins in succession after leading the Bays at every change in Round 7.

Experienced North midfielder Jess Edwards was everywhere whilst collecting 28 disposals to edge out teammate Brianna Arthur with 26 while Cristie Castle and Elaine Grigg kicked two goals each.

The Covid-plagued Tigers were well served by super fit Sarah Goodwin, who tallied a game high 32 disposals and 10 marks while teammate Jess Bates had 26 and nine tackles.

Norwood kept in touch with the top four by eclipsing West Adelaide by 58 points at The Parade.

Now level with fourth-placed South Adelaide on premiership points, the Redlegs also regained valuable percentage by restricting the Bloods to just one goal in Round 7.

Norwood young guns Sachi Syme (27 disposals and 12 clearances) and Lana Schwerdt (23 disposals and a goal) were dynamic in the midfield while Alana Lishmund and Grace Mulvahil kicked three goals each.

AFL-experienced Beatrice Devlyn led the way for the visitors with 23 disposals and eight tackles while Lucy Boyd booted West’s only goal to go with her 13 disposals and six tackles.

A strong second half propelled Central District to a 26-point win against Woodville-West Torrens at X Convenience Oval.

Trailing the Eagles by four points at the main change, the Bulldogs gave their home faithful plenty to cheer about by piling on 5.2 to the Eagles’ 0.2 after half-time.

Central ruck Isabelle Starmer was influential with 25 disposals, seven marks and 28 hit outs while Laitiah Huynh (19 disposals) and Jessica Walker Smith (two goals) also contributed strongly.

Subiaco recruit Abbey Dowrick gave the Eagles plenty of encouragement with 27 disposals, seven clearances and a goal in her first SANFLW match while Jess Sedunary had 22 possessions.

A stifling South Adelaide outfit carved out a 19-point win against previous ladder leaders Sturt at Flinders University Stadium.

The Panthers didn’t allow the Double Blues to score in the first, second or fourth quarters as they led at every change to record their fourth win of the season.

Former Crow Nicole Campbell put in a monster performance for South which yielded 31 disposals, 17 tackles and a goal while Tahlita Buethke (23 possessions) and Jess Waterhouse (19 disposals, five clearances and a goal) also had an impact for the hosts.

Sturt’s Georgia Bevan battled hard for 24 disposals and seven tackles while Abbey Rigter kicked the visitors’ two goals during the third quarter.
