The SANFL is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Health Partners in 2024.
The partnership will see the South Australian private health insurer’s brand aligned to the SANFL men’s and women’s State Leagues.
As a Premier Partner, Health Partners also will offer exclusive benefits to all SANFL players, umpires, SANFL and SANFL Club staff, including discounted memberships and custom-designed SANFL Club mouthguards.
SANFL Chief Executive Officer Darren Chandler said the partnership would see the two iconic South Australian brands partner alongside one another, with Health Partners and SANFL supporting and connecting communities for a combined 200-plus years between them.
Health Partners has been looking after South Australians for more than 80 years and is the State’s largest open health fund. It is also proudly not-for-profit and provides cover for more than 90,000 individuals.
“Supporting the health and wellbeing of all South Australians in our football community is a priority so there is a real synergy in teaming with Health Partners,” Mr Chandler said.
“This significant partnership also reflects the strength of our State League competitions and the value of SANFL Clubs which are part of the fabric of South Australian football.”
Health Partners CEO Jon Goodgame said as an organisation committed to supporting South Australians, the not-for-profit fund is thrilled to partner with the SANFL to promote sport participation and healthy living.
“It’s a great fit as we are both South Australian member-based organisations who are passionate about increasing physical activity and connecting us further as a community. Footy brings us all together,” Mr Goodgame said.
“Health Partners is all about giving back to our members and we look forward to supporting the health and care of those in the SANFL community.
“This partnership will ensure our much loved SANFL footballers and those who support them will have access to quality healthcare. We’re excited for the season ahead.”
The Health Partners announcement comes on the back of highly successful season 2023 for the Hostplus SANFL League, which attracted more audience reach than ever before.
The Seven Network broadcast of the Hostplus SANFL League attracted a commercial audience share average of 40 per cent across the season, with a 63 per cent share for the Grand Final between Glenelg and Sturt which peaked at 100,000 viewers.
Live streaming viewers also were engaged with men’s league matches for a significantly longer period in 2023, with the total number of minutes watched on the AFL Live Official App and SANFL Now increasing by 87 per cent on 2022.
Average crowd attendances were up 12 per cent on 2022, with 33,049 fans attending the Grand Final at Adelaide Oval.
