SANFL has welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement of a $6 million contribution towards SANFL’s proposed redevelopment of Thebarton Oval.
SANFL CEO Jake Parkinson said the Government’s funding commitment to SANFL would allow the League to create a dedicated elite-level sports facility for SANFL talent programs, whilst continuing to provide a home for Adelaide Footy League administration and finals matches, as well as much-needed oval space for community football.
“SANFL also will commit funds of up to $6 million for this significant project, with the AFL confirming it will contribute at least $250,000 in a sign of the strategic importance of Thebarton Oval in meeting the needs of football in South Australia,” Mr Parkinson said.
“The Thebarton Oval redevelopment is an opportunity for SANFL to establish a state-of the-art training, competition and administration sporting precinct that allows the next generation of talented male and female South Australians to thrive.
“We look forward to working with the Federal Government, the City of West Torrens and Adelaide Footy League in delivering a facility which will ultimately provide positive outcomes for both men’s and women’s football.”
