The Mosaic Hotel at West Lakes has been announced as a finalist in four major categories in the prestigious AHA Awards for Excellence, to be announced next week.
With a new and sophisticated modern fit out and a menu that’s a league above average pub fare, the one-year-old Mosaic has been shortlisted as a finalist in the following award categories for metropolitan hotels:
• Bar Presentation and Experience
• Restaurant
• Redeveloped Hotel
• TAB facilities
The SANFL-owned Mosaic is located on the old Football Park site and was a favourite pre-game drink spot for Australian Football fans since the venue opened in 1994.
The new-look contemporary and spacious hotel underwent a major development in 2020, and now offers various bar and dining areas, a bright alfresco deck with two-way fireplace for all-year round comfort, modernised sports bar with 10 big TV screens, TAB facilities and gaming room fitted with 40 latest machines.
“The SANFL is extremely proud to have the Mosaic Hotel nominated in the prestigious AHA Awards for Excellence,’’ said SANFL CEO Darren Chandler.
“Since its redevelopment in 2020, the Mosaic Hotel has been quick to establish itself as the ideal venue to enjoy a family meal, a small function with friends and colleagues, or to cheer on your favourite team on the big screen in the Sports Bar. Its captured the hearts and minds of the local community as the new West development takes shape.’’
The Mosaic prides itself on offering wholesome food, diverse flavours and as much as possible about supporting authentic South Australian food producers and implementing environmentally friendly processes. It serves 17 South Australian gins, exclusively SA wine, Cirelli Coffee from Welland and a range of SA canned craft beer & ciders.
Hotel Manager Emilee Moore has made it a priority to work closely with South Australian suppliers, and also put a focus on sourcing as many products as possible from sustainable distillers, brewers and wine makers.
An example of the unique SA connections Moore has made for the Hotel – the bar doesn’t stock Kahlua, instead Unico Caffe is the choice, which is a coffee liqueur from Applewood distillery in Gumeracha. Therefore, when ordering an Espresso Martini, you’ll be drinking Vodka from Tasmania (666 Butter Vodka), Unico Caffe from Gumeracha and Coffee from Cirelli in Welland.
The Mosaic also leads with environmentally sustainable practices, with green waste supplied to farms in the Adelaide Hills as a source of livestock feed and soil compost, cardboard products recycled and general waste used in concrete slabs and bricks in the building industry – with no waste going to landfill.
The AHA SA Awards for Excellence are recognised as the most prestigious awards in the hospitality industry, honouring the achievement of excellence, ensuring our state’s hotels are some of the best in Australia. Winners will be announced at the 2021 Awards for Excellence Gala Dinner on Tuesday, October 26.
