Statewide Super League Top 50 – No.11

By ZAC MILBANK

Woodville-West Torrens coach Jade Sheedy was desperate to make sure Jordan Foote stayed put for 2020.

And after seeing the manner in which the 24-year-old settled seamlessly into the Statewide Super League last year, it’s easy to see why.

The former Sydney Swan won the Eagles’ Club Champion in his first year at Oval Avenue, averaging nearly 25 disposals at 84 per cent efficiency, together with nearly five marks, six inside 50s and six tackles.

If that wasn’t enough, Foote starred on the State League stage by performing strongly for the West End State team against the WAFL while also being named on the Interchange for The Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year.

Originally from the Maroubra Saints FC in Sydney, Foote became the fourth generation of his family to play in the SANFL after his great grandfather Edward, grandfather John and father David all played for West Torrens.

He was quick to adapt to the rise in intensity from the NEAFL to SANFL, becoming one of the most consistent midfielders in the competition.

This was highlighted in Round 3 when he racked up 36 disposals, nine marks, six clearances and seven inside 50s against Adelaide’s AFL-listed centre square combination.

Expect Foote to be integral to the Eagles’ chances of regaining their place in the major round this season.

Selected by SANFL Media Producer Zac Milbank, the 2020 Statewide Super League Top 50 is being unveiled one player at a time on the League’s website and social media channels.

For incumbent SANFL players, form across the 2019 season was used as a significant factor in the selection process, with selection in The Advertiser Team of the Year, West End State squad, club leadership group and placings in club best-and-fairest weighing heavily.

This is to ensure there is meaningful movement of player rankings between each year’s Top 50 list at the start and end of the season.

Recruits to the Statewide Super League for 2020 have also been included, with significant AFL experience, performance at State League level and their predicted impact proving critical in deciding the order of players.
