Statewide Super League Top 50 – No.33

North Adelaide’s Harrison Wigg will be itching to make an impression once he completes his Prospect homecoming.

Set to don the white V for the first time since 2014, the 23-year-old has only played three games in the past two years after being sidelined by a knee reconstruction and a fractured ankle.

Sadly for Wigg, this derailed his two seasons on the Gold Coast Suns list after a frustrating three years with the Crows saw him named as emergency on several occasions without making his AFL debut.

But in his 49 Statewide Super League games for the Crows, the left-footer showed the ability to make it at elite level with his supreme kicking skills landing him a top-three placing in the club’s 2016 State League Club Champion.

The composed defender then backed up his breakthrough campaign with selection on the half-back flank of the 2017 The Advertiser SANFL Team of the Year.

In 2017, Wigg also placed third in the SANFL for inside 50 entries while averaging in excess of 25 disposals per game as he was edged out for the State League Club Champion award by veteran Scott Thompson.

Where new North coach Jacob Surjan primarily uses Wigg will be interesting given he has the ability to set up play across half-back or drive the ball neatly to the goal square from a wing.

Expect the Walkerville junior to relish being back home to the point he has a major impact as the Roosters attempt to surge back up the premiership table this year.

Selected by SANFL Media Producer Zac Milbank, the 2020 Statewide Super League Top 50 is being unveiled one player at a time on the League’s website and social media channels.

For incumbent SANFL players, form across the 2019 season was used as a significant factor in the selection process, with selection in The Advertiser Team of the Year, West End State squad, club leadership group and placings in club best-and-fairest weighing heavily.

This is to ensure there is meaningful movement of player rankings between each year’s Top 50 list at the start and end of the season.

Recruits to the Statewide Super League for 2020 have also been included, with significant AFL experience, performance at State League level and their predicted impact proving critical in deciding the order of players.
