Tenacious Tynan set to play 50th game

North Adelaide co-captain Leah Tynan never thought she would be in a position to be one of the first players to register 50 Statewide Super Women’s League games.

Growing up in Long Plains north of Adelaide, Tynan was focused on netball as all of the girls she mixed with ”didn’t even think about playing footy.”

But when she joined her High School football team, the premiership midfielder was hooked on her newfound sporting love, lining up with Greenacres in the SAWFL for 141 games since 2010.

Speaking on SANFL Radio, the 29-year-old is extremely grateful to have the opportunity to play for her beloved Roosters in the SANFLW, only missing one game – due to being rested – in her team’s opening four-and-a-half seasons.

Lining up in North’s historic first match against Norwood at The Parade in 2017 was a highlight but not to the height of last year’s richly-deserved premiership after a series of heart-breaking finals exits.

A school teacher in Mallala, Tynan commutes to Prospect to play SANFLW and is excited to share her 50-game milestone with friends and family when North host the Eagles on Saturday.

Tynan also wished Norwood ruck Leah Cutting all the best as she will join her in being the first two players to register 50 SANFLW games in Round 8 of the Statewide Super Women’s League.
