The Torrens University SA Under-16 Team is preparing to begin its title defence with its first clash of the AFL National Championships against Western Australia in Perth on Sunday.
Coached again by last year’s All-Australian mentor Julian Farkas, the Croweaters are gearing up for a hard-running contest on the wide expanses of Subiaco Oval.
Three players from last year’s Championship winning outfit will line up again in 2019, led by newly named captain Jason Horne (pictured above).
Horne will have a key role to play in the midfield alongside South Adelaide teammate Matthew Roberts while Central District goal sneak Isaiah Dudley will be hoping to replicate his creative play at last year’s carnival.
The opening match against the Sandgropers begins at 1.45pm SA time and will play a critical role in shaping the Croweaters’ campaign ahead of matches against Victoria Metro on Monday July 8 and Victoria Country on Friday July 12 at Southport and the Gabba.
