Adelaide blew South Adelaide away with a sensational seven-goal first term at a blustery Flinders University Stadium.

Making the most of the strong breeze toward the southern end of the ground, the Crows kept the Panthers to just one behind before earning a 44-point lead at the opening change.

Even with two goalless quarters – the second and fourth – the Crows’ midfield depth proved far too much for the hosts to overcome as they engineered 56 inside 50s to 22 for the match.

Adelaide trio Jackson Hately, Matt Crouch and Harry Schoenberg were at the forefront of the assault, Hately a standout with 31 disposals, 11 tackles and two goals.

Crouch was the leading disposal-winner on the ground with 36  to go with six tackles and six clearances while Schoenberg had 27 possessions, nine clearances and a goal to continue his red hot form.

Elusive Crows forward Shane McAdam loomed large early by booting two of the first three goals of the game, including a classy solo effort in the mud in traffic.

Slow-starting South didn’t manage a major until Bryce Gibbs, making his return from a thumb injury, nailed his set shot 24 minutes into the second quarter.

The Panthers trailed by as much as 63 points at three quarter-time before kicking the only four goals of the fourth term to save some percentage.

But ultimately, it was a similar effort to the one produced against Norwood on the King’s Birthday as Jarrad Wright’s men left their charge far too late.

Veteran Matt Broadbent collected a team-high 26 disposals along with midfielder Mitch O’Neill while Hayden Sampson provided some run with 24 touches.

Panther Eamon Wilkinson was his side’s only multiple goal kicker with two, with one a fine snap which swung in nicely with the breeze in the third quarter.

Glenelg’s momentum continues to build after rolling up its sleeves for a 37-point win against West Adelaide at Hisense Stadium.

Notching their ninth win in succession since Round 1, the Tigers broke the game open kicking with the strong wind in the second quarter by banging on six goals to open up a 40-point lead at half-time.

This came after the ladder-leading Bays restricted the Bloods to just one major against the tide in the first term as they got on top in the clearances with a 42-22 advantage for the match.

Leading the way was Glenelg ruckman Cam McGree, who was a fitting choice as the Coles Value Player after tallying 21 disposals, 10 clearances, three marks, three tackles and 20 hit outs.

”We knew it was going to be a slog in the tough conditions but we love that sort of footy,” said McGree, who was recruited from Reynella in the off-season, on Channel 7.

”I’m not the strongest ruckman so I get in and under to help the midfielders and they are backing me in.

”The boys have been great, they have welcomed me with open arms.”

The Tigers’ triple threat of Lachie Hosie, Liam McBean and Luke Reynolds booted eight of their 12 majors as the visitors had plenty of contributors around the midfield.

Glenelg’s reliance on Matt Snook and Luke Partington is reducing by the week, illustrated by the star premiership pair having just six kicks between them in a convincing win.

West Adelaide midfielder Koby Ryan thrived in the conditions to rack up 35 disposals, 11 tackles, eight clearances and the opening goal for his side.

Former Tiger Callum Park finished with 38 possessions off half-back for the hosts while Tom Morrish tallied 30 disposals, 13 marks and a nice intercept goal from long range.

Bloods defender Josh Ryan read the play brilliantly to haul in 16 marks as he often repelled the Bays’ attacks as Ned Stevens was West’s only multiple goal kicker with two.
